Blue Tree is Finished

I started this blue tree at the retreat last weekend, but got hung up on the top portion.  I finally sat down and finished it today, and I am happy with how it turned out.  I will be teaching this piece at our EGA chapter next year.

Retreat Stitching

This is the front of Louie the Lucky Reindeer ornament that was in our goodie box at the retreat this past weekend.  I did stitch on it a bit on Saturday, but finished it up today.
This is the back!

This weekend I am at Illinois Beach Resort and Conference Center in Zion Illinois.  These two pictures are the view from my room.
The rooms, the stitching room and the food are fabulous!

Two Small Finishes

I have been packing and moving the last few weeks, so there hasn't been much time for stitching, but I did stitch at least a little bit before going to sleep each evening.  The easy plaid pattern on canvas and repetitiveness of pulling the needle and floss through the canvas was very calming.

I am happy to say I am now moved in with my 92 (soon to be 93) year old father, but....I still have a lot of work ahead of me.  I need to get the kitchen (and maybe the bathroom) remodeled, purchase new appliances, get the carpets shampooed or replaced and then I can start unpacking!  I am happy to say that I have made good progress on organizing my stitching room so that I can at least sit and stitch for a bit and find some things!  Don't hold your breath for pictures, it will be awhile before it is finished.

WIP Wednesday 10-17-2018

I started band 7 of the Linens and Threads 2017 Mystery Sampler today.  I didn't get very far, but it is a start.

WIP Wednesday 10-10-2019

And it's Wednesday again!  I am currently stitching this plaid mitten ornament.

And we have a quick finish....

I still have to glue it onto the tin, but you get the idea.  This is Fox Adventures in Embellishment by Handblessings Designs.  It is an exclusive design for our ANG Chapter.  I did make a change, instead of the scotch stitch all border all around the outside, I just did a tent stitch so that it would fit on this needle tin.

WIP Wednesday 10-3-2018

Well, it's Wednesday again!  Today I am stitching on this cute little canvas design by Handblessings Designs.  It will be a top for a tin for needles, etc.    I need to make some adjustments on the outside border to it will fit on the tin I want to use.

Part 6 is Finished!

This is the 2017 Mystery Sampler from Linens and Threads.  I am stitching it on 25 count fabric over one, with one strand of Valdani floss.  (the Autumn Quaker floss pack)

I stitched both version of part 6 because I liked them both and had enough fabric.

September Progress, October Goals

Lots of stitching time last month, but sadly, October and the next few months should be a lot busier, so not as much time for stitching.

Another Finish

and the end is in sight!  After finishing this panel, I only have 4 more to go to finish the perpetual calendar by Sam Sarah Designs.

Thursday, September 20, 2018

And we have a finish!

It's finished!  That darn very late Round Robin piece that I need to get back to Marguerite.  You may remember that one of the stitchers on this piece kept it for a year or two and then finally passed it on to me with her section (fall) only partially done.  Upon further inspection, the piece was dirty, had things spilled on it and quite a bit of what she had stitched needed to be ripped out.

I finished the fall section and then went on to stitch my section (summer) and I am thrilled that it is finished and clean!

WIP Wednesday 9-19-2018

Here we are, Wednesday again.  When I finished the model I was stitching last week, I went back to this poor neglected Round Robin piece for Marguerite.  I am in the home stretch.  just a little more stitching and then the back stitching and then it can go home to Marguerite's house!

Snowflake Serenade Framed

Another piece that was stitching in 2016, and was waiting for the framing elves to come and 'finish' it, but alas, they never showed up!

It is finally done.  This is another piece by Country Cottage Stitching.

Silent Night Framed

I stitched this piece in 2016, and had the frame and it sitting around, but the framing elves didn't come to my house!  I finally have it framed.

It is Silent Night, by Country Cottage Stitching, that I recharted in German.

Edited to add:  I no longer have this chart, and I didn't keep a copy of the recharted words.

If you leave me a question, please be so kind as to leave a way for me to contact you!

WIP Wednesday 9-5-2018

Here it is Wednesday again, and time to show all of you blogging buddies what I am working on.  It's red, lots of red.  I am tired of doing red.

This is a model for Sue Hillis and needs to be finished asap.....but there is so much red!

August Progress, September Goals

August was a busy month as far as stitching went.  I managed to finish Dreaming of Tuscany and have it framed just in the knick of time for gifting!  Love how it turned out.  I also finished Rocky Mountain Christmas, which was my oldest Work in Progress.   I also worked on Marguerite's Round Robin piece, and got the flakey stitcher's section done, and my own section started.  I am currently working on a Model for Sue Hillis, and as soon as that is done, I will go back to the Round Robin piece and get that finished for Marguerite.

Stitching Witch Framed

This is a cute design by Sue Hillis that I stitched in 2016, and it sat in the finishing pile ever since, with the frame, I might add.

She is finally all framed and ready to hang!

Here it is!   I ordered the frame and mat so long ago, I forgot what I ordered!  But I love it!

WIP Wednesday 8-29-2018

It's Wednesday again, and although I made some great progress on the WIP I showed you last week, I had to put it aside yesterday, and start on this model for Sue Hillis.  I need to get this stitched up as quickly as possible.  It has lots of big blocks of the same color, so it shouldn't take too long.

WIP Wednesday 8-22-2018

Here it is Wednesday again, and I have picked up another WIP to hopefully get done.  This is a round robin piece with a long story.  It is Marguerite's piece, and she stitched one section, the second stitcher stitched the second section.  Then the third stitcher had it for over a year (probably 2) and didn't do much.  I got it quite some time ago, but just couldn't get to it.  I finally picked it up and am doing the third stitcher's section right now, almost ready to start the backstitching.  Then I have my own section to do........

Linen and Things 2017 Mystery Sampler Part 5 is Finished!

I know I am way behind on this stitch-a-long, but it's getting there!  I finished part 5 this past weekend.  I am stitching this on 25 count vintage mocha linen, over one fabric thread with one strand of Valdani floss.

IHSW Report and a Finish!

I did manage to get in some quality stitching time, despite being a busy weekend!

Here is Bent Creek's Flag of Stars that I finished stitching.  It was a very nice change of pace for me.  It is stitched on 18 count linen ( I didn't even know it came in that size!) over two fabric threads with perle cotton!  It was a quick finish!

Dreaming of Tuscany Framed

I picked this beauty up from the framer today!  Just in time to be gifted tomorrow!  So glad this was done in time.

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

WIP Wednesday 8-15-2018

Two WIPs this week, first is Flag of Stars by Bent Creek.  This one is a great change of pace, it is work on 18 count linen over two fabric threads with one strand of perle cotton.  It's a kit and although the linen is very stiff, it is fun to stitch.
And on the other end of the spectrum is Part 5 of the 2017 Linen and Threads mystery sampler, which I am stitching on 25 count vintage mocha with one strand of Valdani floss over one fabric thread.  Love working on this one too!

Dreaming of Tuscany Finish

Finished in time to be framed for the 50th Anniversary party!  Frame and mats were already ordered, so I should have it back in a few days.

Sunday, August 12, 2018

Rocky Mountain Christmas Finish

This was my oldest WIP - actually a work in slow progress - started 2-20-2006 and finally finished on 8-9-2018 (with lots of other finishes in between!)  It took 275 hours of stitching.

When I started this, I read the instructions that said to use 3 strands on 28 count, so that's what I did.  If I had to do it over again, I would only use 2 strands, I find the 3 strands bulky and they don't look as neat as I would like, but it is done!  Frame and mats were ordered a few months ago, so off the framer today and hopefully a short turn around.

St. Clare, Patron Saint of Needleworkers

August 11 is the feast of St. Clare, who is the patron saint of needlework. There are patrons for many, many things, so you shouldn’t be surprised that needlework has its own patron.

If you don’t know much about St. Clare, she was the daughter of a noble family in Asissi and a friend of St. Francis. She was called to the life of the Franciscans and became the first Franciscan nun. It’s because of her that the order is commonly called “Poor Clares.”
She is the patron of needlework because she was a fine embroiderer and her convent made vestments and liturgical pieces for the Franciscans.

Happy feast of St. Clare!

WIP Wednesday 8-1-2018

Posting a day late, but better late than never.....

Here we are at 9 1/2 weeks, 256 hours of stitch.  I will be going to Welcome Stitchery on Monday so Monica can order the frame and mats, then will take it back home to finish.....
