I am still here!

I received a few messages concerning my lack of posts in the last few months.  Thank you for checking up on me and for your concern!  The truth is, I needed to iron a few finishes before I attached buttons, and then posted the finishes, and it was just too painful to go downstairs to the basement where the iron is!

I was set to begin the x-rays, etc., leading up to a knee replacement when COVID hit, so it was put off.  A little over a week ago, I finally saw the surgeon, who decided that I needed some therapy before the surgery to strengthen some muscles, so he gave me a cortisone shot in each knee.  What a miracle!  The pain was immediately lessened and I have been able to walk, to climb all over the sailboat, and to move around with out as much pain!  Being able to move has resulted in a 5 lb weight loss in just over a week!

I still haven't ironed those 4 pieces, but will do so soon!

Altar Cloth Finish

Our EGA Chapter meets at a Lutheran Church, and we always try to help the church if we are able.  From time to time they ask us to embroider on new altar linens.  I had the privilege of stitching on the altar cloth.  It wasn't as easy as you think.  I did a bunch of research and visited other Lutheran Churches to look at their altar cloths.  This is the design I came up with.  It was placed in each corner and in the center.  I think they liked it.

The End of an Era

Yesterday, at 3 pm, the doors of Welcome Stitchery closed for the last time in Crystal Lake.  The shop has been sold and the new owner is moving it to Blue Earth MN (home of the jolly green giant).  I will miss this happy place.

We will miss Lee and Monica also!  I will look for another framer, and another shop to shop at.

Lee and Monica deserve to retire, and they will be missed!

A Gift

John, my gentleman friend, recently returned from the Holy Land and Egypt.

He has traveled before, but never brought me a gift.  And I didn't expect one.  But this time he did!  He has also never given me jewelry before.

The necklace is an olive tree.  He found a local artesian that was highly recommended, and picked this one because it was patterned after a specific tree in the garden of Gethsemane, and he saw the tree.

The bracelet is Garnet and he got it in a Bedouin village from another local craftsman.

He seemed really excited to give it to me.  I don't know if this a new development in our relationship or if he is just being his nerdy little self.  Either way, I won't look a gift John in the mouth, I said thank you and will wear them often!

Royal Visitors at German School and a New Medal

This year, the Chicago Mardi Gras Organization has no Prinz or Princess, but....the national group; GAMGA (German American Mardi Gras Association) crowned a
Prinz and Prinzessin last weekend in Las Vegas, and they happen to be local to us!   So they came for a visit to German School today!  The students love these visits and love to have this type of visit every year.

The Prinz and Princess passed out beads and Gummi Baerchen to every student!

I was honored to receive an Orden from the Prinz this year!
