Model Stitching Finish

I had to put One Nation aside to do some model stitching for Sue Hillis.  Her charts are always a delight to stitch!  This is the pie cart from the Home for the Harvest booklet.  It has not yet been released, but look for it soon!

A Model Stitching Finish

I dropped everything to stitch this model for Sue Hillis.  Didn't get it done as quickly as I would have liked, but it has been a busy time.  I have two more in this ornament series to stitch, hopefully I will get them done faster.

WIP Wednesday 11-21-2018

Hello all you blogging buddies!  Thanks so much for all your kind words.  Glad to know that there are people still reading!

Here is my current WIP, a model for Sue Hillis.  With the Thanksgiving holiday, and everything else in my life, I haven't been able to devote as much time to it as I would like, but I am working diligently on getting it done.  There are more in this ornament series to do, but waiting on more fabric from Sue.

WIP Wednesday 8-29-2018

It's Wednesday again, and although I made some great progress on the WIP I showed you last week, I had to put it aside yesterday, and start on this model for Sue Hillis.  I need to get this stitched up as quickly as possible.  It has lots of big blocks of the same color, so it shouldn't take too long.

IHSW Report

I stitched quite a bit this weekend.  Aside from having lunch with my Dad for Father's Day, I was truly a hermit and stitched and watched soccer all weekend.  You might think I would have made lots of progress on my focus piece.....but no.  I had to do some emergency model stitching!  Remember that project I did last month?  You can see it here.  Sadly, the Sue had some issues with the supplier and could not get the oval box she had been promised.  She had to change to a round box, which meant that the Alphabet Band that I had stitched was too short.  I quickly stitched up a new band for her, as well as a small scissors fob and got them in the mail to her so she can do the finishing and be ready for her classes.

Stitching Some Models

I spent quite a bit of time stitching some Models for Sue Hillis.    This will be a pin cushion.
This piece will be a box top.
This piece will be a band that goes around a box.
Here are all three pieces together with the antique buttons attached.  Sue will be teaching this project in a number of places.  Check out her facebook page for a list of dates and places.

Model Stitching

I was asked to do some model stitching for Sue Hillis Designs last month.  Now that the design has been released, I can show you what I stitched.  I was at Sue's house while she was designing these and did have some input, but she really doesn't need any help in designing, she is so talented and really knows her market.  I stitched these six witches' hats on some lovely hand dyed fabrics and then sent them off to Sue for finishing.

She finished them on these painted sleds.   Yes, I know the sleds are meant for Christmas ornaments, but she painted them black and orange and made them Halloween ornaments.
This is the finished design and it is available at your favorite shop!

I am not really a fan of Halloween, but this is one that I would stitch!

Model Stitching

I can finally show you what I have been working on!  These are models for Sue Hillis Designs, and now that Sue has posted the design on her Facebook page, I can show you!

This was not a difficult project to stitch, and rather fun to stitch.  That is until the dreaded frog reared his ugly head!

I was researching fabric, and  stitching merrily away, and then Sue found out about the tight deadline!  I ran out to Welcome Stitchery to get the green gingham checked fabric and was almost finished with the long piece when I noticed I missed a stitch in the middle, and it threw the entire rest of the piece off by two threads.....would have been fine if it was for me...but since it was being photographed for the cover of a leaflet, it had to be correct!

I stayed up all night to get it finished and started on the smaller piece, but once I got to the backstitched letters, I didn't like the way they looked!  I had to try a few different flosses before I finally was satisfied.  I got it shipped off to Sue Hillis on time and she had it a full day before the deadline!  Yay me!

Another Model Finished

Sue Hillis sent me a chart that she needed stitched yesterday, I had the perforated paper, so I just dug in and started stitching.  It doesn't look like a lot of stitching, but the frog came a visiting, and it took much longer than expected.  It is now at Sue's and she will be doing the finishing.  It will be a birdhouse, and will be available at Celebrations this coming weekend.

And now back to my regularly scheduled stitching....

Another Model Stitching Finish

I got a call from Sue Hillis last week.  She needed a model restitched asap and shipped to her in Nashville so that she could frame it and display it along with the other 3 pieces that went along with it.

The original model stitcher had mixed up two colors, and the piece didn't look right.  I headed to Welcome Stitchery to pick up some fabric and then went home to starte stitching.

Now, stitching buddies, the entire point of model stitching is to catch any errors that the designer might have missed in the chart.  There were a number of errors and unclear instructions that I found, that the original model stitcher never mentioned to Sue.  She had already printed the charts thinking everything was correct.  Once I let her know, she immediately made the corrections and then had to reprint the charts before leaving for market.  She received the stitched piece today, and all is now well!

Nashville Market Release

Here is the long awaited Dessert of the Month Club by Sue Hillis!   I stitched two of the individual model squares had seen a mocked up version of the complete design.  My sister stitched the model for the banner on top and it looks great in person.  Sue now has it all pulled together to release at market in 4 leaflets!

I see so many possibilites for this design!  If I do stitch it as one big piece, I think I will do it over 1 on 25 count otherwise it might be too big for my walls!  Can't wait to stitch it....someday!
