WIP Wednesday 6-27-2018

Well, it's Wednesday again and time to check in and show you my progress.   We are at the 4 1/2 week mark.  Not very much stitch this past week.  Friday was spent cooking and baking for the weekend.  Saturday and Sunday was spent at a wonderful needlepoint class (more on that in a later post).

On Saturday, John fell off a 10 foot ladder at the boat yard while getting the sailboat ready to go in the water.  He broke both bones in his right leg near the ankle.  Luckily, he had a friend with him who called 911.  John had surgery on Saturday evening, and I brought him home from Racine on Sunday evening and have been running and fetching for him ever since.  He has an external immobilizer on the leg and can't put any weight on it.  We see the doctor Friday and make arrangements for more surgery.

A Quick Finish

...Just in time for the 4th of July!  We did this cute little flag pin as a project at our guild meeting this evening.  I completed the project before I left the meeting!

WIP Wednesday 6-20-2018

And it's Wednesday again!   I am at the 3 1/2 week mark, but this past week, I had to do the emergency model stitching project, so I lost 5 days of stitching on this piece.  I did make some progress, though.  I have finished 3 out of 6 pages, but one of the pages left to do is solidly stitched, more stitching than any of the other pages.....I will keep on going!

This coming weekend I have a Needlepoint class both Saturday and Sunday, so I will lose two more days of stitching on this piece, but at least there is steady progress!

IHSW Report

I stitched quite a bit this weekend.  Aside from having lunch with my Dad for Father's Day, I was truly a hermit and stitched and watched soccer all weekend.  You might think I would have made lots of progress on my focus piece.....but no.  I had to do some emergency model stitching!  Remember that project I did last month?  You can see it here.  Sadly, the Sue had some issues with the supplier and could not get the oval box she had been promised.  She had to change to a round box, which meant that the Alphabet Band that I had stitched was too short.  I quickly stitched up a new band for her, as well as a small scissors fob and got them in the mail to her so she can do the finishing and be ready for her classes.

We Interupt Our Stitching......

for World Cup Soccer!

Whenever the Olympics or World Cup Soccer happens, I  usually choose a piece to stitch during the event.  I have a bunch of projects specially picked but never even started!  I am too busy watching the action to stitch!  This time I didn't pick anything special as I have a model to get finished yesterday, and a focus piece that needs to be finished soon.......Go Germany!

International Hermit and Stitch Weekend

I am not planning to go anywhere except lunch with Dad on Father's Day, so I hope to get lots of stitching done.....but there is the World Cup.....hard to stitch and watch soccer at the same time.  Go Germany!

Another week has gone by, and it is now 2 1/2 weeks since I started on this piece.  I am happy with the progress but still have a long way to go.

Wedding Gift

I went to a wedding today.  Victoria is the 1st grade teacher at German School, and she married Brian today.  It was a lovely wedding, and I hope they like the gift I made for them.

WIP Wednesday - 2 for the price of 1!

Sigh..... I started this piece on May 25th, but after two solid days of stitching, I discovered that I was using the wrong amount of strands!  (the patches outside of the arched bricks should be done in one strand of floss over 2 fabric threads and I had done them with two strands, which wouldn't give the proper shading to the finished piece so I had to frog two full days of stitching!  I restarted the piece on May 27th, about 1 1/2 weeks ago.  After just a few days here is the WIP as of May 30th.

Here is the same piece on June 6, after 1 1/2 weeks of stitching.  It is coming along nicely!

I will be concentrating on this piece instead of doing my usual screaming rotation because this is an intended 50th anniversary gift for some friends and the big party is in the middle of August.  I will need lots of encouragement to stick to the piece and get it finished!

May Progress and June Goals

Well, by now you might have figured out that my 'finishing mania' didn't go so well.  It actually never happened.   I did get everything organized for it but that's as far as I got.  Why?  Well, a designer friend needed some model stitching in a big hurry and I just couldn't say no, so I stitched three pieces for her and will be doing one more as soon as more fabric arrives.   I also had a wedding sampler to stitch so that it could be taken to be framed in time for a June 10th wedding.  Rocky Mountain Christmas isn't finished either.  Just a little more backstitching, but the frame is ordered, and I hope to have it finished by the time the frame molding is in.  I also have a piece to stitch in time for a 50th Anniversay in August.  It needs to be finished to get it framed before the party, so that will become my focus piece for now.......finished all the things I have ready to be finished will come later.....
