Today's Finish

Just finished this morning!   I have done this Hardanger Runner at least 4 times already, and given them all away!  I entered in the county fair today.  When it comes back, I was going to send it to a friend, but I may just keep it and stitched another one for her.

WIP Wednesday 4-17-2019

Work continues on my Hardanger Runner.  All the bars are wrapped and many of the dove's eyes are done.  I am getting a little tired of doing only white.

To relieve the boredom of all the white, I have started a new piece; Home of a Needleworker Squared by Little House Needleworks.  It should be a quick stitch.

Cutting is finished

After 4 1/2 hours of careful cutting.  Now I am ready to start wrapping the bars and doing the filling stitches......

It is hard to see because it is white on white, but there is good progress on this piece!  Although I have done this runner a number of times, it is still enjoyable to work on!

I started a Hardanger runner the other day.  Haven't had too much time to stitch, but the progress is good.

Delicate Daisy Hardanger Table Mat

If you have been checking out my blog posts recently, this piece might look more than a little familiar to you, besides that you saw it on WIP Wednesdays.

I had stitched the matching table runner in March, and decided to do the companion pieces because it sounded smaller and less complicated......wrong!  It took just as long as the runner!  But it is done and I am happy with it.

A Hardanger Finish

I have been working exclusively on this piece for the past 5 weeks.  It is called Delicate Daisies and the chart is found in the November 2007 issue of Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine.  I used white 22 count fabric, and DMC perle cotton fibres.  The piece is my contribution to a silent auction to benefit the Education Foundation in my area.  I actually finished this 4 weeks before the deadline!

Galena Retreat

The first weekend of June was our annual Needlepoint Guild retreat in Galena Illinois.   I love going to Galena, and staying in the historic and charming De Soto House Hotel.

Marguerite and I drove out on Thursday morning and came home late on Saturday evening, although some people stayed until sometime on Monday. 




While there, I taught a Stitcher's Strawberry class. 

It was a class I had taught before, but this time I had an alternate hardanger cap for the strawberry.  The class was well received and fun to teach.










Everyone that attended the retreat received this wonderful goodie box. 


 

A Hardanger Finish

I worked on this Hardanger Runner for exactly a month.  I started it on March 10th and finished in the wee hours of morning on April 9th.   85 hours of stitching.  There was frogging involved! 

I am quite happy with the way it turned out.  The pattern is from Easing into Hardanger by Mary Hickmott.  It is stitched on ecru hardanger fabric (22 count) with DMC 713 perle cotton in #5 and #8. 

This is the second time I have done this runner.  The first time was a few years ago, stitched it white on white, and donated it to a raffle at the German club.  This time I donated it to the Education Foundation silent auction.  It was purchased by someone who values hardanger as a gift for her Norwegan mother.

Here is a closeup of the Scandinavian Four Sided Edging.  This edging is one of the reasons I love stitching this runner.  It stitches up much faster than a button hole edging and looks more delicate, too.
