I Need Your Help!

Hey blogging buddies!  I am currently stitching Around the World in 80 Days by Little House Needelworks, and I am almost finished, but I have a dilemma. I don't want to put in the year 1873. I understand the significance of that year (it is the year Jules Verne published the book), but it's a little big for my taste and too prominent. But what should I put in it's place? just fill in the grass or ???   Anyone have a suggestion for me?

A lovely finish. I'd probably just take the easy way out and fill in with the grass but will be interested to see what other suggestions you get.

Personally I would either fill it with grass or chart his initials and add a JV or J Verne or something similar. Good luck with deciding.

Hmmm... Interesting dilemma. If you want to retain that nod to the book, you could make the numbers smaller and add the initials JV. If you aren't concerned about the date or author being included at all, then I think more grass is the way to go. I'm sure you'll get more interesting ideas; I look forward to seeing your final decision!

What about adding a few more sheep? Or another little animal?

I agree :) I would add more flowers or a few sheep instead :)

Is it possible use a much smaller font? So you can still put the year just a whole lot smaller.

I would fill in the grass and if you wanted to still commemorate the year then maybe put a small date somewhere along the border if there is room inside the border or outside. Maybe "Published 1873 by Jules Verne" Like you I wouldn't want the date that big.

I haven't seen this design before--it's very cute! You could always go with the current year and your initials. Or maybe a small animal like a rabbit? Or another, smaller potted plant?

I'd add a couple of sheep (or another animal) like in the lighter green section.

All great suggestions. I was going to say JV initials as well, and it could be half the size of the numbers to be less prominent.
